Baumeister, Exline, and Sommer were the first to differentiate between intra- and interpersonal forgiveness models and proposed the process of forgiveness on a continuum of silent and hallow forgiveness on one side versus full forgiveness at the other end of the spectrum (1998).
The many stories of courageous forgiveness are often a subject of great biographies. One such story is that of Richard Moore who was blinded by a rubber bullet fired by a British soldier when he was ten years old. Despite never regaining sight, he went on to live a full life and devoted himself to the cause of promoting forgiveness and peace.
He credits his family and community with bringing him up in the way that cultivated forgiveness and closeness. His account of what happened, however tragic, has a positive tone and is full of gratitude toward people in his life.
In justice to the nations and the men associated in this prosecution, I must remind you of certain difficulties which may leave their mark on this case. Never before in legal history has an effort been made to bring within the scope of a single litigation the developments of a decade, covering a whole continent, and involving a score of nations, countless individuals, and innumerable events. Despite the magnitude of the task, the world has demanded immediate action. This demand has had to be met, though perhaps at the cost of finished craftsmanship. To my country, established courts, following familiar procedures, applying well-thumbed precedents, and dealing with the legal consequences of local and limited events seldom commence a trial within a year of the event in litigation. Yet less than 8 months ago today the courtroom in which you sit was an enemy fortress in the hands of German SS troops. Less than 8 months ago nearly all our witnesses and documents were in enemy hands. The law had not been codified, no procedures had been established, no tribunal was in existence, no usable courthouse stood here, none of the hundreds of tons of official German documents had been examined, no prosecuting staff had been assembled, nearly all of the present defendants were at large, and the four prosecuting powers had not yet joined in common cause to try them. I should be the last to deny that the case may well suffer from incomplete researches and quite likely will not be the example of professional work which any of the prosecuting nations would normally wish to sponsor. It is, however, a completely adequate case to the judgment we shall ask you to render, and its full development we shall be obliged to leave to historians.
But the unlimited love of God will not stop pursuing us no matter how far we might flee from him. There is no darkness that his light cannot dispel. There is no cruelty that his gentleness cannot transform. There is no addiction that his power cannot tame. There is no lust that his faithfulness cannot purify. There is no greed that his generosity cannot quell. The death of Jesus has paid the penalty for the totality of our sin, and he freely offers forgiveness to all who put their trust in him.
The Top Escape Rooms Project is an attempt to find the very best escape rooms in the world by leveraging the experience of the most experienced escape room enthusiasts in the world. We serve escape room owners and designers by publicly recognizing their achievements, and we serve our fellow enthusiasts by providing an international bucket list of the best rooms to play.
The top rooms and top companies identified by this project each year are awarded a Top Escape Rooms Project Enthusiasts' Choice Award, or TERPECA, which represents the best of the best in the international escape room industry.
The Top Escape Rooms Project's mission to find the best escape rooms in the world is clearly limited by the fact that the TERPECAs currently only recognize and honor rooms and companies that support English-speaking players and are in the countries and regions where such players are likely to visit. We humbly acknowledge that this approach fails to recognize many, many world-class escape rooms available around the world, so here we present a list of some of the most trusted websites from around the world that offer awards and rankings that we feel can help fill in many of the gaps left by our approach. We focus primarily on sites that offer aggregated recommendations, rankings, and awards that are derived from the opinions of many, rather than any sites that focus on the rankings or opinions of a single person or small group of people.
In the nomination phase, pre-approved nominators (consisting of enthusiasts that have played 200 or more escape rooms) were asked to privately nominate up to 15 rooms that they feel should be considered in the conversation for best in the world. Rooms that won the Top Room award the previous year and would otherwise be eligible for the current year were granted automatic finalist status and could not be nominated. In 2022, any room with five or more independent nominations was deemed to have sufficient support to move on to Phase 2, with the idea that for a room to be worthy of the distinction of being one of the best in the world, then it would surely be nominated by some reasonable minimum number of people.
Owners, employees, investors, designers, consultants, and other direct affiliates of a given escape room or escape room company, past or present, as well as spouses or family members of any such affiliates, were not allowed to nominate any of the corresponding rooms for which they may have a conflict of interest.
For a room to be eligible for nomination in 2022, there were two requirements. First, the room must have been open for at least 30 days between November 1, 2021 and October 31, 2022. Second, the room must be playable for a team consisting entirely of English-speaking players, and that fact must be verifiable online. Aside from these two rules, nominators were free to include any room they had played, using any criteria they felt was relevant to a room being considered one of the best in the world, including the very definition of what counts as an escape room.
In the ranking phase, pre-approved voters (consisting of enthusiasts that have played 100 or more escape rooms, plus any enthusiasts approved as voters when the requirement was lower than 100) are asked to provide a complete, ordered stack rank of the rooms that survived Phase 1. They are only allowed to rank rooms that they have played and for which they do not have a potential conflict of interest, as defined in the previous section. Voters can also choose not to rank a room that they've played for any reason.
Once again, owners, employees, investors, designers, consultants, and other direct affiliates of a given escape room or escape room company, past or present, as well as spouses or family members of any such affiliates, were not allowed to rank any of the corresponding rooms for which they may have a conflict of interest.
The results given by this analysis were studied in detail to verify that the final rankings stood up to careful scrutiny when comparing two rooms to each other based on all the stack ranks that included both, but this data is excluded from the final report because it can be used in some cases to infer individual preferences between rooms. Suffice it to say that we are quite confident that the outcome here faithfully represents the data provided by those participating in the project.
Abstract:One of the main objectives in mathematics education is to motivate students due to the fact that their interest in this area is often very low. The use of different technologies, as well as gamification in the classroom, can help us to meet this goal. In this case, it is presented the use of two techniques, which are a digital escape room, using Genial.ly and a breakout, for learning algebra in the third course of secondary education. To carry out the experience, a comparison of the course 2018/2019 and the course 2019/2020 is made. Students of both courses completed an exam of algebraic fractions and then an equations exam; the exams were done in the course 2019/2020 taken after having used the techniques. The results show that there are low significant differences between both courses in the algebraic fractions exam qualifications, but those of the equations exam were significant, with a difference of almost two points, which led us to conclude that the use of this techniques improved the qualifications of students. Finally, the perception that students had of the experience was very positive, as shown by the data obtained and allowed them to improve their knowledge as well as their motivation and teamwork. Keywords: Genial.ly; algebra; escape room; digital; breakout; secondary education
