I hate the cursors in Windows 8, but I like the ones in Windows 7. Unforunately, my Googling? skills aren't the best, and I can't seem to find a place to download them. So, anyone with Windows 7, can you please find them and give me a link to them? Please?
2. Open aero_cursors.zip and browse within the archive to the folder cursors. Within the cursors folder select all files by pressing ctrl+A, ask click with your right mouse button on the selection and select Copy.
4. Go to the root of the aero_cursors.zip archive and double click at the aero_cursors(.reg) file. Click Yes when the Registry Import warning appears.
Perhaps the aero_cursors.reg should be change from[HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelCursorsSchemes] to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionControl PanelCursorsSchemes] so that every user get aero cursors not just the current user.
By default, Windows 10 comes with no custom cursors bundled and uses the same cursors as Windows 8. Users who love customizing their OS might be bored to see the same set of cursors in all recent versions of Windows. To change cursors, you need to download them, extract the files and apply them manually with the Mouse Control Panel or using the Settings app. Here is a much easier alternative way.
After downloading the Cursors set, unzip the downloaded package to %windir%\Cursors. And then go to the Control Panel option to select Printers and other hardware. Choose there Mouse option and at last click on Pointer (Tab). Now hit the Browse button and replace all the existing cursors with the new which has been downloaded earlier and save them as Windows 8, then click on Apply followed by OK.
Now you should set a new Windows 8 as logon screen for windows XP/7. Download logon screen by clicking here and extract the downloaded file. You will get LogonUI.exe after extracting the file.
My users connect remotely to their Win7Pro/WinXPPro desktops via a Linux based RDP gateway (Sun SGD) This uses the linux rdesktop app to give them an rdp session on their windows 7 PC. This all worked fine for Windows XP but windows 7 uses 'windows aero ' mouse scheme with animations as the default pointer. With this enabled the mouse is very slow when connecting via linux & rdesktop. 2b1af7f3a8
